A 16-year-old was checked out of Bossier High School by a 22-year-old woman posing as her mother, according to Bossier City Jail booking records.
This came to light after police found the student and the 22-year-old’s brother having sex about noon Jan. 13 in a vehicle in the Louisiana Boardwalk parking garage, Bossier City police Lt. John Nicholson said.
Jose Torres-Rivera, 20, and Maria Torres-Rivera, both of the 1200 block of Waller Avenue in Bossier City, were booked into Bossier City Jail, him on one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, her on one count of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
And as is the case with most instances where a man has sex with an undeage girl…the language barrier was a bit of problem.
“My sticking point is that girl was 16 and the woman who checked her out — I’ve never seen her before — was 20 or something,” Bossier High principal David Thrash said.
The girl’s checkout was further complicated by a language barrier, Thrash and Machen said. Maria Torres-Rivera and the student, who is classified as a English Language Learner, do not speak English. Thrash said the office has a cheat sheet of Spanish phrases to get information required for checkout.
