Roundabout FAIL UPDATE: The Thrill is back!

roundabout2

The Roundabout , brainchild of City Councilman and amateur school crossing guard Michael Long, was finally defeated this morning by common sense, angry residents, and at least one out of control motorist.  Order and chaos to be restored all at once on Gilbert momentarily.

We should have a party on the hill to celebrate. Much like the people at Cooper’s Hill in Gloucestershire.

    I’ll bring the cheese.

  2. H says:

That is awesome. I was so pissed when I came in town and couldn’t contain my need for speed and some DB but a round about on thrill hill.
Just when I think the port has gone to the birds true wisdom knocks back change a-gain.

  3. Courtreb says:

I feel my taxpayer dollars hard at work… again.

Off to speed down Thrill Hill before they put some other crap at the bottom of the hill to ruin my fun.

  4. Super_Bre says:

YAY! So glad to see that the City’s wasted money and time is finally out of the way! It took them no less than 3 weeks of making the street even MORE dangerous by turning it into a one lane roadway while they did this – not to mention wasting money on the actual workers who were mostly seen sitting around watching us drivers trying to figure out exactly what was going on. BRILLIANT WORK by destroying it – hopefully it stays that way!

  5. Clayton B says:

How the hell was I supposed to jump TH when I have to slow down at the bottom? Glad this is gone. Seriously I do wish drivers would respect the speed limit on Gilbert after a clean landing.

  6. Simple Jack says:

Good thing they didn’t just put a couple of stop signs up and make it a 4 way stop, because that totally wouldn’t have made any sense. A roundabout was such a better idea.

  7. Haywood Jablome says:

Eighteen THOUSAND dollars of our tax money down the shit*er, nice…..

Ok. One this is slander towards Michael long, two, this now gives the city reason to put a cop there to catch all of you speeding, three, maybe he thought of that because someone died from a car accident on that hill and didn’t think someone was such a dumbass to hit it. But now that I see that people living there destroyed it have you all ever heard of destruction of city property.

    • Bunkie Perkins says:

Your legal knowledge astounds me. First, its not slander, its libel, because, well, its a sign, thus a written statement. So strike one. Second, truth is an ultimate defense to libel. Mr. Long would need to prove that such a statement is false…and well, by evidence of the rousing success of this roundabout, that may be tough to prove. So strike two. Third, Long is a public figure, and must prove that the author of the sign knew the statement was false (ie. malice)/produced the sign with wreckless disregard for the truth…again, good luck proving that. So Strike three. And just for your edification, this may also be considered opinion, which are statements not actionable under the defamation umbrella.

So yeah, leave the lawyerin’ to the fancy and educated of us here.
